Unlike other types of modeling, glamour modeling doesn’t impose too many requirements or restrictions. There aren’t any size issues, or minimum height requirements. Unlike other types of modeling, fitness modeling focuses more on displaying a physique that not only looks healthy and fit, but also athletic. You should also be open to suggestions from makeup artists and hairstylists about what look works best for you, and don’t insist that you know better than them when it come to the way you look.

And since you’re just auditioning, you might want to bring a wide variety of clothing. Remember, you’re just auditioning, and therefore cannot expect the people who are holding the auditions to provide you with the clothing that you need. At least six different outfits will do.

And most importantly, be confident, and let that confidence shine through with every smile, move and pose that you make. You may be the most beautiful or most perfect person physically for the job, but without confidence, all that beauty will go for naught.

Get in shape. Not just getting in shape, but getting into the best possible shape. Now you don’t need to have rippling muscles. For male models, being toned and fit is more the norm.

If and when you land a modeling job, say, a photo shoot, there are a few things you should remember before going in front of the cameras. One is you should be clean from head to foot. If you’ve got dark circles or bags under your eyes, make sure you avoid any caffeinated drinks, get eight hours sleep and drink water before the day of the photo shoot. Also eating less than three hours before a photo shoot is a no-no.

These physical preparations, however, all go for naught if there’s something wrong about your attitude towards the job. Confidence is always essential not only for male models, but also for anyone in any given field. As a male model, you must be secure in how you look and your modeling ability. Admittedly, there are very few renowned Asian models in the modeling world today compared to their Caucasian, African-American and Latino contemporaries. But with the increasing popularity of high fashion and the booming economies of such Asian countries as China and Japan, it will soon follow that the demand for models of Asian descent will rise too.

Actually, some Asian women have already blazed the trail for future oriental models as early as two decades ago.

In the 1980s, Anna Bayle, a model from the Philippines, was regarded as the first Asian supermodel. She has worked with all the major designers from Europe, and considered one of the top ten models of the world, along with such names as Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista. Then there was half-Korean and half-black model Kimora Lee, who in the late 80s has become a self-professed muse for Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld.

The early 90s saw Yasmeen Ghauri, a Canadian model of Pakistani and German descent, do modeling jobs for Hermes, Versace, Victoria’s Secret and Givenchy, and opened the door for other South Asian-looking models to try their luck in the business. Siberian model Irina Pantaeva also rose to fame during this period, and her very Asian features have been prominently featured in a slew of advertising campaigns for such clothing firms as Levi’s and Gap.

A new generation of models has picked up where the above models left off. Of these younger Asian models, perhaps the best known is Devon Aoki, a Japanese-German-British model. At 5’5”, she is regarded as the world’s shortest supermodel, but has nevertheless worked for the fashion houses Lancôme, Chanel, and Versace. She also dabbles in acting, having appeared in a number of Hollywood films, including 2 Fast 2 Furious, Sin City and Dead or Alive.

Soon enough, a number of Asian models have also made quite an impact on the modeling world. There’s Indian model Ujjwala Raut, Japanese model Ai Tominaga, and Korean-American Hye Rim Park. Breathe

Posture

If you roll one hip up from the ground or surface, shifting your weight will be simple. This pose results in a slimming effect that you don’t want to miss out on.

Cleavage
To make sure your best assets shine, there are a few basic guidelines to follow. Based on two distinct poses, a forward lean and a backward lean, any model with any breast size can maximize cleavage. When leaning forward, either bring your arms together at your waist, keep your arms straight at the elbows and clasp your hands together below your waist, or simply cross your arms. When leaning backward, raise your arms about your shoulders and head, keep your arms apart, and always slouch for the best cleavage results.

Requirements for Plus size models

• Plus size models can be between the sizes of 12 - 18 some can be size 10 depending on agency needs.
• Models must have good body lines, excellent legs are also important, good classic, contemporary look there is no room for too funky looks.
• Models must carry themselves well and know how to work their body for camera angles.
• Plus size models must be comfortable in their own skin, so that it shows on film.
• Girls are between the height of 5'9 - 5-11, they must have the height to carry the clothes.
• The ideal plus size girl is 5'10 and a size 14.
• Hair length should be just to shoulder or longer with lots of body for fullness.
• Plus size models must pay particular attention to skin, hair, nails, smooth leggs and many of the plus girls do lingerie - so perfect measurements help.

Teenage Models Requirements

* Teenage girls can be between the height of 5'9 - 5'10 some can be 5'7 - 5'8 depending on the girl if they have a great look, with expressive eyes, great smile and bubbly personality.
* It is very important that a girl can move well in front of the camera and be very animated.
* A great way to learn movement is have a friend take photo's just having fun with the camera and learning how to be expressive with lots and lots of smiles.
* Teen girls must take direction well, be on time for photo shoot, castings and all appointments.
* Teenage girls can be between the ages of 13 and 21 and this is based on how mature the girl is at l3. Many girls work junior's after 21, it just depends on if she still has great energy, clear skin and looks like she can still be in school.
* Teenage Models must stay fit ,the size is between size 2 and 6.
* The size is based on the sample of the clothes.
* Junior clothes tend to be cut small.
* There is no weight requirement it is just a matter of clothing falling correctly on the girl's body.
* Girls have to pay special attention to staying healthy for beautiful skin, hair , body.
* Girls should drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep.

Male Models Requirments

Guys have the most range in the industry .

Age can range anywhere from l5 for young mens to 50 plus.

The strongest market is 25 -35 for the Models.

l5 -25 young mens market.

These guys are everywhere from the Tv to the runways and catching quick to their female counterpart.

Guys can be paid the same rates on most jobs as the girls, depending on contracts.

The biggest call is for the Male Model between 30 and 40 years old ,and agencies are always looking for these guys.

It is a much easier for guys in this age range to get into the agencies especially if they have a very strong look and a good body.

These are the business men, the young dads, the sports guys the husbands in all the ads you see.




Male Model Requirements:
* The height ranges from 5'10 very athletic toa 6'2 fashion.
* most fashion models are 6 '6'1.
* Clothing size is standard around a 40regular - 42long.
* Guys must work out and stay in top physical condition.
* Good muscle and tone with strong abs.
* Male Models must have good skin and hands - yes guys use moisturizer - actually there are many cosmetic companies have their own mens lines.

* Hair goes from long to short and back again in no time - the guys right now all have the longer hair - more of a surfer look with a bit of the five o'clock shadow .
* Guys with hair that is slightly salt and pepper is always a good look for business.
* Great personality is key for guys - some guys make it to the top on their personalities alone.. well with a bit of a look.
* Always be pleasant to the photographers and booking agents and the clients.
* Sometimes the client will look for the male model on set to set the pace of the shoot.
* So learn quickly and take direction well.

Updos, chignons, half-up, half-down hairdos for women wanting creative elegance by day or going out for the evening, leaning towards a refined look. It usually boils down to a few reasons. A celeb has short hair but prefers it long, and doesn't want to wait for it to grow out. Or she already has long hair, but it's thin, and she wants more volume.

The following definitions of modeling styles follow closely to those set out in the modeling industry. The difference in my interpretations of these styles is, I dont care what the person looks like. There is no personal requirement for me to use you in one of these styles.

Fashion – For me this is a general category of modeling. It means to model something that is currently in fashion. These shoots do not have to be in any specific location.

Fitness – These shoots usually have a sporting or fitness theme to them. Models generally wear fitness style clothing and the shoots are usually undertaken in a fitness environment.

Elegance – Shot in Formal wear these shoots are done in locations that are grandure and elegant. Whilst these shoots are shot with the model dressed in Formal wear, we aim to still achieve some glamour in these shots.

Swimsuit - Swimsuit modeling is wearing what you would to the beach on any given day. Shots may involve the model being in the water, on the sand, amongst rocks or even on a jetty or board walk. This style of modeling does not include nudity.

Underwear – Usually shot indoors, these shoots involve a model who is dressed in their underwear. The shoots could include a lounge suit, single chair, window frame, bed or doorway. Please note that although this style of shoot does not always include nudity, these shoots will only be conducted with models that have a full understanding of this topic, a full willingness to undertake this style of shoot and the model must be over 18yrs old.

Sheer – The term sheer is used to describe a clothing style that is see through. There is a level of nudity included in this style of shoot. For this reason, again, these shoots will only be conducted with models that have a full understanding of this topic, a full willingness to undertake this style of shoot and the model must be over 18yrs old.

Topless – This style shoot involves a topless model. These shoots can be either in the studio or in outdoor locations. Generally not in a public location. Due to the nudity involved these shoots will only be conducted with models that have a full understanding of this topic, a full willingness to undertake this style of shoot and the model must be over 18yrs old.

Nude – This involves a completely naked model. Again this style of shoot can be either indoors or outdoors. Due to the nudity factor of these shoots, these shoots will only be conducted with models that have a full understanding of this topic, a full willingness to undertake this style of shoot and the model must be over 18yrs old.

It is important to note that at all times the model is in full control of the shoot. If the model chooses to change the style of the shoot, the this is something that can be discussed. It is also VERY important to remember that I do not want to work with models that feel uncomfortable. If this ever becomes the case, no matter what the shoot is, the model will always have the right to stop the shoot and go on to something else with no argument from me.

In some cases, a model release form will be signed before the commencement of the shoot. A model release form is :

A model release, known in similar contexts as a liability waiver, is a legal document typically signed by the subject of a photograph granting the photographer permission to publish the photograph in one form or another. The legal rights of the signatories in reference to the material is thereafter subject to the allowances and restrictions stated in the release, and also possibly in exchange for compensation paid to the photographed.

Although this sounds like a heavy legal document, it is used to protect both the photographer and model as it outlines what the intention for these shoots is. I will never waiver from this agreement. I will also agree to only use photographs of models that the model agrees are ok for use.
